Yes, I could have been a judge but I never had the Latin, never had the Latin for the judging. I just never had sufficient of it to get through the rigorous judging exams. They're noted for their rigour. People came staggering out saying 'My God what a rigorous exam' - and so I became a miner instead. A coal miner. I managed to get through the mining exams - they're not very rigorous. They only ask you one question. They say 'Who are you?', and I got 75% for that.

really neat shot of the bar-cafe. lovely. could sell a trillion greeting cards!
looks awfully quiet in Helsinki.
Is it too cold to get out Maria? Except you and your sharp camera angle. :)
You know I love those black and whites.
Gina, I was delighted for the photo opportunity with this one!
Grace, na, only about zero degrees celsius (32 F) but it makes for depressingly cloudy, grey winter days. I was of course purposefully looking for the quiet moments like this ;-)
I love your black and whites too. I have a feeling we have the same winter choices- grey skies and not so cold, or blue skies and sunshine but much, much colder. I would opt for the sunny but colder.

I tend to agree with you Anne-Marie. Given that it's impossible for the snow to disappear overnight, colder and sunny is the best option. Although now most cold days have been cloudy here, too :(
It's great to see you expressing your visual talents so convincingly, Maria.
Keep them coming, I'll keep watching - and will feel lucky
I know I shouldn't be here, but just wanted to tell you how much I like these two photos. Both images of symmetry, but also of a kind of peace. Beautiful. If this is what you produce on grey days, I'm all for them!
Thank you, Koos! xo. I decided that since outdoors is not offering much variety, I better go look for it indoors. And sure enough: if you look, you're bound to find.
Val, well, I'm glad that you broke your "fast" for this ;-) xo
...and you captured them perfectly.
when's that coffee table book coming out Maria?! ;)
Grace, there's so darned much to do! :)
