Yes, I could have been a judge but I never had the Latin, never had the Latin for the judging. I just never had sufficient of it to get through the rigorous judging exams. They're noted for their rigour. People came staggering out saying 'My God what a rigorous exam' - and so I became a miner instead. A coal miner. I managed to get through the mining exams - they're not very rigorous. They only ask you one question. They say 'Who are you?', and I got 75% for that.

love this image.
Wow. Just great Maria! This one really stands out.
A maple leaf in Finalnd. And here I thought it was a distinctly Canadian tree.
Thanks Grace and Vally!
Probably it was originally imported from somewhere like Canada. I'm imagining the landed gentry wanting it for their parks, and then it spread from there. Quite common here in the south of Finland.
Hi EL, long time no visit. Interesting I do when I see a maple leaf. It is actually remarkable at how similar the flora is between Finland and Canada - therefore I wasn't too surprised to see the leaf - but it sure brought a smile. I also know that at the 1976 Olympic games, the host committee gave maple leaf tree (saplings) to all the athletes and coaches.
